Diocese Commission Report

The final report of the Dioceses Commission on the Peterborough-Ely boundary was published in January 2010, and can be viewed here on the Church Commissioners’ website.

The Commission had accepted, as one of its first tasks, the brief of examining the apparent anomaly whereby the city of Peterborough is split between the two Dioceses of Peterborough and Ely.

The report makes fascinating reading, drawing together as it does the history of the region and present feelings about it identity. There is much food for thought and welcome encouragement to work together in mission and ministry, but the report concludes that these purposes would not be best served by a legal re-drawing of the boundary at this stage.
