Trees in churchyards
Some of our oldest trees in Britain are in churchyards and so churches have a special responsibility to look after them. Even younger trees contribute significantly to the landscape and are marvels of God’s creation.
- Trees, especially if damaged by people in the past, can prove hazardous and so they also need attention if people and property are not to be harmed.
- The subject of tree care and planting is complex. The diocesan group can give some advice, but parishes should be prepared to pay for good professional advice and work on their trees.
