Conservation
Nature Conservation: especially of the churchyard (which is a priority habitat for conservation in Cambridgeshire) and other land the PCC manages, and also other land in the village or in conjunction with farmers, encouraging wildlife friendly gardening, putting nature notes and sightings in the parish mag. (see Module 9 on http://www.ecocongregation.org/englandwales)
A major charity working in this field is the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough. Their website is http://www.wildlifebcnp.org. You will find a lot to interest you here and you may even with to volunteer with them or apply for a job!
There are a number of organisations that offer grants for nature conservation. However, they tend only to last a year or two. Currently we are aware of
- Community spaces http://www.community-spaces.org.uk/
We have organised our material on this subject over several pages:
- General churchyard conservation
- Bats and churches
- Swifts
- Trees in churchyards
- Wildlife gardening
- Local nature reserves
