The Diocesan Office
The Diocesan Office forms part of a complex of building with the Diocesan Retreat and Conference Centre. There is car parking available
Visits outside regular opening times can be arranged either through the Resources Centre, or by contacting one of the Education Officers listed below.
Please come and browse. Don’t forget that apart from the extensive range of books to help with planning worship, children’s and youth work, research etc, there are videos, drama and a few musical scores, parachutes and other games equipment, giant puppets and a set of plain MASKS with different expressions which have many applications. There are also sets of GODLY PLAY materials, and we are adding to the whole collection all the time.
DO COME AND LOOK or give us a call to check if we have exactly what you want on 01353 652725 or email resources.centre@ely.anglican.org. If you are travelling a long distance it is advisable to telephone first to check that the Centre is open.
What the Centre has to offer:
The Centre contains a comprehensive collection of material for resourcing parish life and school religious education and collective worship. The collection includes:
- books
- videos
- audio-tapes
- tape/slide/film strip packages
- multi-media packs
- picture collections
- artefacts
- games
The materials are catalogued and displayed using an alphabetically based descriptive system, for example:
Art & Crafts, Multifaith issues, Personal & Social Issues and Worship (i.e. liturgical source books, commentaries, drama, music, hymn and song books, prayer, spirituality, school worship). A full list of categories are available at the Centre or on line to help you find your way around.
A mobile resources collection visits seven different venues in the Diocese each term carrying materials to support school RE and collective worship. Details of this service are sent to the schools or can be obtained through the Centre.
Borrowing
Items borrowed from the Centre may be kept for a two week period; renewals can be arranged by telephone or e-mail if the item is not required by another borrower. Items borrowed through the Schools RE Adviser are subject to a slightly different arrangement.
It should be noted that some items are in heavy demand and therefore we would appreciate it if you could return borrowed items promptly to save administrative time and money in reclaiming overdue items.
There is no charge to borrow from the Centre but we do accept donations.
Should any items be damaged or lost we do ask borrowers to cover cost of replacement or repair.
Please note kindly that, for security reasons, no visitors are allowed in the Centre unless a member of the Education Team is present.
It is your Resources Centre to support the work you do in your Parish or School - PLEASE USE IT!
