RE and Collective Worship

Note on Religious Education in Voluntary Aided Schools:

RE in VA Church of England Schools is the particular responsibility of the governing body: governors should agree the RE Syllabus and policy, and monitor proviison in their school. The Diocese of Ely does not have a Diocesan RE Syllabus but recommends to all VA Schools the use of the County Agreed Syllabus in conjunction with the national document Excellence and Distinctiveness (see below). The Diocesan RE Adviser is available to support any church school (VA or VC) which is working on its RE.

PRACTICAL THEMES AND SCHEMES

DIOCESE OF ELY RE GUIDELINES

The Diocesan RE Guidelines were published in the 1990s and consisted of background materials on various aspects of Christian life, with accompanying suggestions on how these could be taught in church schools. The teaching suggestions have been superseded by the more detailed themes and schemes in the section above, whilst the information pages have been put on-line here:

The materials on collective worship can be found under "Policy and Practice" (below).
