The Church School and Christian Values

Many Church Schools include a general statement about Christian Values in their School Statement of Aims or Mission Statement - but have the members of the school community identified and shared the Christian values that are an integral part of their life? If we break the school stick of rock anywhere - staff, governors, pupils - will the message be the same?

If you are thinking about your school's values you may like to use the pdf booklet on this website with a working group of staff and governors (see below).

  • Use the image of the Values Wheel which you will find on page 2 to think about the core beliefs which hold your school together.
  • Work through the Christian values described on the booklet pages - agree which (three, four or five) particularly resonate with your school.
  • Think about how these values will be fostered in your school community e.g. through collective worship.
  • Consider how the Values might be brought to everyone's attention e.g. through displays in the entrance hall or assembly hall
  • Talk them and live them!
