Youth

Many young people are forming their own sense of spirituality. Some end up with a confusing 'pick and mix' spirituality, whilst many others continue to strive and search for meaning. Therefore supporting spiritual development should be a key aim of any Christian youth minister or worker. A new resource pack called 'Glimpses' will be arriving at our resources centre soon which will help youth workers and Youth ALM's to develop their own spirituality, and hopefully encourage the young people they work with to do the same.

The resources in 'Glimpses' enable Christian youth workers and ALM's to explore a variety of subjects using tried and tested approaches. One big advantage of this resource is that it aids us to discuss and explore these important concepts, which can have such a profound effect on young people’s happiness and wellbeing. I think that 'Glimpses' is an excellent resource to help all youth workers understand and get the best from this subject.’

The five sections of 'Glimpses' will encourage readers to reflect on spirituality and stimulate thought and discussion, and promote greater awareness. For example, the 'Reflections' section provides a series of visual images to engage with and reflect upon; 'Atmospheres' explores the power and importance of environments and 'Essences' gets to the heart of what is meant by spirituality and spiritual development. 'Stations' provides a range of some 30 practical tools to aid exploration and engagement and Breaths is packed full of miscellaneous ideas and resources. The pack also contains a DVD which complements the activities and includes photos, music and video clips. >

A 'Glimpses' workshop and the book's author will be at Toolkit 2008!
