Q. What should I do in an emergency?

Are you sure that your request is an emergency, or is it a matter which can be dealt with by the Diocesan Office when it re-opens?

If the matter is an emergency, and you contact one of the numbers detailed below, then please ensure that you inform the Diocesan Office on 01353 652704 as soon as you are able.

If the fault is an electrical fault, then:

  1. Inspect the trip switches in the consumer unit (this is the residual current device box which replaced the old fashioned fuses). If any switches are down (off), re-set the trip switch by simply pressing it upwards. If the switch fails to re-set, then make a note of the circuit on which the trip resides and unplug all of your domestic appliances. Re-set the trip. If it continues to fail to re-set, then contact our emergency electrician's number, Harnwells, on 01945 773207. If the trip sets after you have unplugged your domestic applicances, then the fault will be with the internal workings of one of your own appliances.
  2. If there is any sign of a fire, vacate the property immediately and call the fire brigade on 999.
  3. If the fault is with a smoke detector and there is clearly no fire, then:

Ensure that the re-chargeable battery is in situ and its containing drawer closed. Press any re-set buttons and ensure that there is no residual smoke from cooking, etc.
  4. If the fault is with one of your own electrical appliances, then:

All costs of repair will remain with yourself.

If the fault is connected with water services or the heating system:

  1. If the problem is with your boiler, then telephone Mr R Noyce on 01366 377583, or mobile 07801 768722, or Mr J Noyce on 07801 768724.
  2. If the problem is with a leaking hot or cold water pipe, or radiator, then turn off the cold water stop cock and, if appropriate, the hot water stop cock, and contact Mr R Noyce on 01366 377583, mobile 07801 768722, or Mr J Noyce on 07801 768724.
