Vocations Events and Opportunities

Who are we? What do we do?

Trying to work out what God is calling you to do can take time – often months or even years. One of the ways in which people can be helped to discern their own calling is by meeting with others who are on a similar journey of exploration. There are a number of ways of doing this – sometimes by going to a national event on vocation, or by visiting a particular training institution or religious community; sometimes by talking with groups of people in your own area about where God might be leading them.

Here, on this page, are some of the ways in which you might meet up with others to talk about your own calling:

Events and information – National

The Vocations Department of The Ministry Division of the Church of England produces an annual booklet. This will soon be available to download. In the meantime, you can obtain a copy by writing to:

The Vocations Officer

The Church Pastoral Aid Society regularly runs weekends for those (and their partners) thinking about ordained and lay ministry.

Events and information – Regional and Diocesan

There are regular Vocations events in the Diocese at which you can have an appointment to meet someone from the Vocations Team. For more information, send an email to vocations@ely.anglican.org

Vocations Sunday

On the fourth Sunday after Easter each year, the Church focuses on the theme of vocation. Look out for particular events in your area, or visit the National Vocations Sunday website. You can also find resources, readings and reflection on the theme of Vocation on this site.

In 2007 Vocations Sunday will fall on 29th April. For more information see our resources page, or the national Vocations Sunday website.

Diocese of Ely Vocations Fellowship

Twice each year, the Bishop of Huntingdon gathers together all those who are exploring a possible vocation to ordained ministry. The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide a forum for people to ask questions, to listen to speakers and to talk informally with others about their own vocational journey.
