Bishop of Huntingdon installed at Ely Cathedral
15th October 2008The Suffragan Bishop of Huntingdon, the Rt Revd Dr David Thomson is to be installed as a member of the College of Canons at Ely Cathedral on Friday 17 October. His Installation will take place during the annual Sung Eucharist celebrating the Cathedrals founder, St Etheldreda. Dr Thomson moved to Ely following his consecration at Southwark Cathedral as Bishop on 3 July 2008. He is full-time assistant to the Bishop of Ely, the Rt Revd Dr Anthony Russell, who has the oversight and pastoral care of nearly 350 parishes in the Diocese. As Bishop of Huntingdon, Dr Thomson shares in the general episcopal duties of the diocese such as parish visits, licensing and supporting clergy and conducting confirmations. He takes the lead in matters to do with ministry and mission. He has special interests in education, from schools to Cambridge colleges and in the countys new developments and is keen to work in partnership wherever possible. As a member of the College of Canons, he will also share in furthering the work of the Cathedral
