Church attendance continues
to increase in the Diocese

The Diocese of Ely saw an increase in average weekly church attendance in 2008 for all types of congregation - Adults, All Age, Children and Young people. The average Sunday All Age attendance rose by 7% and Adult attendance by 8%.
These latest local church attendance figures from the Church of England also show a 3% increase in 2008 of Children and Youth attendance at churches in the Diocese of Ely.
This is the third consecutive year that Ely has seen a growth in its weekly attendance figures for all types of congregation, in contrast to the general situation nationally as seen by the statistics recently published by the Church of England.
These figures show that 1.7 million people continue to attend Church of England services each month, and around 1.1 million attend church as part of a typical week – and not just on a Sunday.Attendance Statistics from the Church Of England for previous years:
