The Bishop of Ely urges support for local farmers
The Bishop of Ely, Stephen Conway, will attend the East of England show (17-19 June) this weekend (Saturday 18 June).
The Show is a three day event where livestock of the highest quality is on display. Horses, cattle, sheep and pigs fill the showground.
The Bishop will arrive at the Showground late Saturday morning before sitting down for the President’s lunch (12.45pm). He will spend time with Mr John Scorer, Deputy President of the East of England Agricultural Society and Mr Andrew Sharpley, Chairman of the Council.
A tour guide will take the Bishop to see some highlights of the show, including the Orchid Tent, the Cattle Rings, the Country Sports Arena, and the new Executive Centre.
People attending the East of England show will have plenty of activity to keep them entertained over the weekend.
There will be horses competing in equestrian classes with a wide range of breeds present. Vintage tractors and classic cars will also be exhibited over the weekend adding to the diversity of the three day event.
Last Saturday, at a meeting of the Diocesan Synod, Bishop Conway urged people across the region to support local farmers in every way they could during the current drought and as they face challenging economic times.
