Raising funds for the Bishop's Lent Appeal

On Saturday March 20th the Ely Cathedral and Diocese All Stars, starring the Ven Hugh McCurdy (the Archdeaon of Huntingdon and Wisbech) and Canon Alan Hargrave (Canon Missioner of Ely Cathedral), played a team from the Ascension Parish Cambridge, The Cambridge Castle Freerangers, captained by Revd Philipa King, Team Vicar in the Ascension Team Ministry. Both teams included people from 10 to 60, male and female. It was great game of football, the All stars winning 4 – 0.

More importantly, around £2000 was raised for the Street Child World Cup, one of the charities of the Bishop’s Lent Appeal. The Street Child World Cup was played in South Africa in March and launched a programme to provide security, respect, education and care for street children all over the world.
