The Revd Alan Jesson writes
All Licensed Lay Ministers (Readers) are required to renew their licences every three years if they wish to continue in this valuable ministry. And so on 16th October nearly two-thirds of the currently active LLMs in our Diocese gathered for the triennial service. This was an excellent turn-out, and many were supported by their incumbents, family and other members of the parish. In addition to the old hands renewing their promises and licences three new LLMs were admitted to the ministry and licensed to work in Ely Diocese. The new ministers are Elizabeth Brown, Sharon Clark and Duncan Keys. Patricia Higton transferred in to Ely from Norwich Diocese and was licensed. At a service at Childerly on 20th October Amanda Norman was Licenced. Welcome to all new colleagues.
The Cathedral service was a wonderfully warm friendly affair, with a sermon from Bishop David that reminded us of the call to be holy, wholesome and whole-hearted. Thanks go to the members of the Readers’ Board who organised the service, the Dean and Cathedral staff who supported it, Bishop David for all the work he does as Warden, and especially to all our LLMs who do such a tremendous job in supporting ministry in the Diocese.
The new ministers will serve in the following parishes:
| Elizabeth Brown | St Philip’s, Cambridge |
| Sharon Clark | Abingtons, Hildersham, Balsham, Weston Colville, West Wickham and West Wratting |
| Duncan Keys | Linton Team |
| Patricia Higton | Marham |
| Amanda Norman | Lordsbridge Team |
