Proms and Pimms
The Bishop of Huntingdon, Dr David Thomson, and his wife Jean are opening their garden in Ely for a Mother’s Union fundraiser entitled Proms and Pimms on Wednesday 6 July (7pm).
Mother’s Union members, friends and supporters will enjoy musical entertainment from the King’s School Choir and raise their glasses to the work of this international Christian charity (www.mothersunion.org) that supports families worldwide as well as here in the UK.
Its Chief Executive Reg Bailey was the author of the recent independent Government report on the sexualisation of childhood today.
Jean Thomson said today: “The Mother’s Union are an amazing world-wide organisation of women, who really make a difference in developing countries, but closer to home too with parenting courses for instance in our communities and prisons. In Ely they run an Edward Bear Club for young children and their parents and I often go along to read them a story.”
She added: “We’re so lucky to have a lovely garden here on Ely’s Lynn Road, and it’s great to share it in a good cause like this.”
Tickets priced £7.50 are available from Jean Thomson on 01353 663662.
