SAY ONE FOR ME
Bishop David gathered almost 100 prayer requests in an hour on Ash Wednesday when he took to the streets of Ely as part of the national 'Say One For Me' initiative for Lent.

Bishop David invited passers-by to write a prayer request on the printed cards. He took the gathered prayers to the midday Holy Communicaion service in Ely Cathedral where he prayed them through silently. He will be doing this throughout the 40 days of Lent with further prayer requests. If you are struggling with things or have prayers needs of others on your heart you can post your prayer request to Bishop David at The Rt Revd David Thomson, 14 Lynn Road, Ely CB6 1DA. All prayer requests will be confidential.

Alternatively if you would prefer to post your prayer request online you can do so via the national Say One For Me website and it will be prayed by one of the Bishops around the country who are taking part in this initiative.

The 'Say One For Me' is a national initiative inspired by the Bishop of Huntingdon's predecessor, The Rt Revd John Inge, now Bishop of Worcester. On Ash Wednesday 2009, Bishop John Inge collected prayers in a job centre. He said "People often ask me to ‘say one for them'. So many people have been affected by the financial crisis and I want to let them know that their local church is there to offer support and prayers. By collecting people's concerns I can pray for them at the Cathedral and let them know that God cares and is watching over them however difficult their situation.".
