The Worshipful Company of Farmers called in at the Ely en route to the 683rd Lord Mayor’s Show in London.
Follet Balch, Master of the Worshipful Company of Farmers, and Lindsay Hargreaves took a Grimme self-propelled two row potato harvester representing the potato industry and in support to the Worshipful Company of Farmers.
The Worshipful Company of Farmers has taken part in the parade for the last five years and each year has gained increasing support from rural and urban areas. Its aim has been to promote a better understanding of the economic importance of farming in the economic life of the nation and the close association of farming with the City of London.
At the parade Follet Balch, the senior warden Peter Faulkner and junior warden John Reynolds marched in front of the Varitron 220 harvester on its journey along the square mile in London.
Dressed in the attire of a 19th century farm worker was liveryman Lindsay Hargreaves.
“Promoting agriculture and the importance of farming is a key objective of the Worshipful Company of Farmers,” says Mr Balch.
