Work with children and young people across the Diocese will top the agenda for a day at St Mary’s School, Ely, on Saturday 18 June.

The Bishop of Huntingdon, Dr David Thomson, is passionate about young people and will spend the day with leaders from across Cambridgeshire and West Norfolk.

Andy Castle from the charity CPAS (www.cpas.org.uk) is leading a workshop on how young people can take a lead in the church and have their voices heard.

Jan Payne and her band will lead the worship and Adrian Chatfield from Ridley Hall, Cambridge, will be there to speak to the leaders – nearly all volunteers - about how they can keep their own faith alive in a busy world.

A special feature will be a “Good Childhood Conversation” about how children today can have a really good start to their lives.

This is part of a national project the Diocese of Ely is pioneering with the Children’s Society.

Dr Thomson said today: “I was at a national conference earlier this year which young people themselves called for the bishops, not the other way round. It was great!

He added: “A new partnership across the generations is growing in the church, and it’s a privilege to be part of it. Ely’s aim is to lead the way!

The day follows on from a successful one last year: photos and stories at http://www.ely.anglican.org/news_events/news_items/leaders-lunch-2010.html.
