Lord, Teach us to pray

One structure for prayer is given by the acronym "ACTS", representing adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication (or intercession.)  This is one order, where we start off focusing on who God is, and praising him for that.

Others find a CATS pattern helpful, beginning by clearing out of the way the things that sadden God in our lives, before we can go onto praise him.

Pray for Our world

Pray for all those caught up in the on-going conflict all round the world. Pray especially for those innocents starving, homeless, suffering and grieving. Pray for peace to succeed and terror be overcome without escalating to a so called religious war. Pray continuously for Gods intervention to bring us together and to accept and love our differences.

Our Local Community.

Lord God,
you have taught us that we are members one of another
and that we shouldn't live for ourselves alone:
we thank you for the community of which we are part;
for those who share with us in its activities
and for all who serve itsvaried interests.

Help us, as we have opportunity,
to make our own contribution to the community
and to learn to be good neighbours,
that by love we may serve one another;
in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
