CHURCH ROOF - UPDATE

We are pleased to report that the CCTV cameras and motion sensors installed before Christmas have been supplemented by a comprehensive alarm system that reports in to a 24-hour manned monitoring station.

January 2012

CHURCH ROOF

Since the beginning of November we have had a series of attacks on the church roof.  In the first two lead was stripped from the south porch roof and the south aisle, both of which are sheeted up until a more permanent repair can be made (see picture).  Since the theft from the south aisle we have installed a combined CCTV and motion sensor alarm system, and although we have had two further nefarious visits in which some damage was done, we've not lost any more lead, and the most recent visit resulted in a "blue light" police response.

Unfortunately insurance payouts for metal theft are capped at £5,000, and the damage will cost many times that to repair.

CHURCH HALL, GARDEN AND GROUNDS AUTUMN CLEAR UP

Tim & Ken clearing the Hall guttersTim and Alastair clearing the car park drainThanks to Tim Johnson for organizing our autumn clear up on Saturday 29th October, and to Tim, Alastair and Ken for their hard work on the day.  As we were a bit short-handed we concentrated on clearing the roof gutters and gulleys, and and on getting rid of the debris and ivy that was choking up the the car park drain.  Watch the notices or have a word with Tim to make sure you don't miss your next opportunity to help lick the Hall and grounds into shape.  There's always plenty of work that needs to be done
