Church Extension Progress Update |

Our plans for the extension are still progressing. A modification to our original design has been submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council after much discussion and compromise. This scheme has the full backing of Buckden Parish Council. We had been expecting our Planning Permission to be approved in early 2003 but a new bombshell has been dropped in that because of new government legislation planning permission in respect of Grade 1 listed buildings in our area can only be granted by the Government Office of the East, an unelected body, to whom we cannot make representations. Before our application can be submitted to the Government Office of the East we are required to carry out an archaeology investigation, a requirement usually not required until after outline planning permission has been granted. This investigation was started in March 2003 and to show their continued support for our proposals Buckden Parish Council have agreed to make a donation towards the cost of the investigation.
