Monthly Prayers
July / August Prayers:
In the life of the local church, please pray for:
- Buckdens living stones for speedy progress on the extension during the warmer months
- All those undertaking or considering new ministries, particularly those preparing to undertake ALM training.
- John Wells (Treasurer) and Bernard Hatswell (Planned Giving Secretary) and for the church finances in these difficult times.
- For all holding positions of responsibility in the new coalition government; for courage to uphold policies that truly seek the common good
- Our own and every nation as we seek to address the challenges of climate change and its implications now and in the future; and for our own response as we seek to live sustainably.
- All situations of conflict, war and civil unrest; for British and UN troops stationed in such situations attempting to create and keep the peace in complex and difficult circumstances.
- All Christians in secular occupations
- Buckden CE primary school, and especially for the newly appointed headteacher, Alison Anderson; for all teaching and other staff at the end of the school year and during a well earned summer break
- The staff, inmates, and volunteers at Littlehey, especially those in the new Young Offenders facility.
- Those who travel on the A1, and for the emergency services as they deal with the aftermath of traffic accidents
- For our neighbourhood policing team, particularly the PCSOs assigned to St Neots and the surrounding villages.
June Prayers:
In the life of the local church, please pray for:
- Buckdens living stones for speedy progress on the extension,
- All those undertaking or considering new ministries, particularly those preparing to undertake ALM training.

May Prayers:
In the life of the local church, please pray for:
- Buckdens living stones for speedy progress on the extension, and give thanks for kinder weather for all who are working on it
- All those undertaking or considering new ministries, particularly those applying for ALM training
- All those who were elected as churchwardens, PCC members, and sidespersons at last months APCM
- John Wells (Treasurer) and Bernard Hatswell (Planned Giving Secretary) and for the church finances in these difficult times.
- All Saints, Offord that they will be able to find churchwardens and a new PCC secretary.
- The people of Haiti, and Chile, and all areas of natural disaster, for all who are working to bring relief and to rebuild, and for those organising fundraising efforts.
- Our main political parties as they prepare for a general election; for courage to uphold policies that truly seek the common good
- Our own and every nation as we seek to address the challenges of climate change and its implications now and in the future; and for our own response as we seek to live sustainably.
- All Christians in secular occupations
- Buckden CE primary school, and especially for the process of appointing a new Headteacher (interviews at the end of May).
- All who are grieving the loss of loved ones, facing death, or caring for someone who is terminally ill.
- The staff, inmates, and volunteers at Littlehey, especially those in the new Young Offenders facility.
- Those who travel on the A1, and for the emergency services as they deal with the aftermath of traffic accidents.
April Prayers:
In the life of the local church, please pray for:
- Buckdens Living Stones for speedy progress on the extension and for kinder weather conditions for all who are working on it
- The worship at St Marys over Easter, and also at our neighbouring churches, and for the Good Friday ecumenical service and childrens workshop
- All those undertaking or considering new ministries, particularly those applying for ALM training (Vocations Sunday: 25 April)
- The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (18 April)
- The people of Haiti, and all caught up in the devastating earthquake there, and for all who are working to bring relief and to rebuild, and for those organising fundraising efforts
- Our main political parties as they prepare for a general election; for courage to uphold policies that truly seek the common good
- Our own and every nation as we seek to address the challenges of climate change and its implications now and in the future.
- Buckden CE primary school, and especially for the process of appointing a new Headteacher; for Andy Clarke, as he prepares to move to a challenging appointment as Headteacher of a school in inner city Leicester..
- All who are grieving the loss of loved ones, facing death, or caring for someone who is terminally ill.
- The staff, inmates, and volunteers at Littlehey, and for those involved in the new young offenders facility being added to the Littlehey site.
March Prayers:
In the life of the local church, please pray for:
- Those working on the porch roof for their safety, and for the work to be completed on schedule
- Buckdens Living Stones for speedy progress on the extension and for kinder weather conditions for all who are working on it
- The new group for older teenagers which started last month, and for Ann Brittain and Beth Hayward who will be leading it.
- The people of Haiti, and all caught up in the devastating earthquake there, and for all who are working to bring relief and to rebuild, and for those organising fundraising efforts
- Those from some of the worlds poorest communities who produce the products that we enjoy (fair-trade Fortnight: 22 Feb - 7 March
- Buckden CE primary school: headteacher Andy Clarke, and all the staff, pupils, governors and volunteers.
- All those experiencing difficulties at home, in their relationships, or with neighbours.
- The staff, inmates, and volunteers at Littlehey, and for those involved in the new young offenders facility being added to the Littlehey site.
- All who have found this long cold winter especially difficult.
- The staff, inmates, and volunteers at Littlehey, and for those involved in the new young offenders facility being added to the Littlehey site.
- All those in hospital, awaiting tests or treatment, living with long term health problems, or with terminal illness.
February Prayers:
In the life of the local church, please pray for:
- Those working on the porch roof for their safety, and for the work to be completed on schedule

- Wilfred and Jennifer Debney as they settle into their new home in Yorkshire, and for Bishop Anthony as he begins settles into retirement
- The new group for older teenagers starting early in March, and for Ann Brittain and Beth Hayward who will be leading it.
- Joseph Wanderer and Frederick Kodia, whom we have been financially supporting through their training for ordination.
- The people of Haiti, and all caught up in the devastating earthquake there, and for all who are working to bring relief

January Prayers:
In the life of the local church, please pray for:
- Buckdens Living Stones: for all those involved in the construction work and with fundraising, giving thanks for all that has already been achieved.
- The work of Friends in Deed, asking Gods blessing on Christine Lawrence, the new co-ordinator.
- Wilfred and Jennifer Debney as they prepare to move up to Yorkshire.
- Bishop Anthony as he prepares for his retirement, and for the process of selecting a new Bishop for the Diocese of Ely.
- Our sister churches in Buckden Churches Together: St Hughs, Buckden Methodist Church, Godmanchester Baptist Church, Offord & Perry Baptist Church, and All Saints Offord, and for all Christians in Buckden who worship elsewhere.
- Joseph Wanderer and Frederick Kodia, whom we have been financially supporting through their training for ordination.

- Those working out the implications of the global summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen last month, and for all world leaders as they make decisions which will affect the course of history.

- Those who are newly retired, or seeking employment, unhappy in their work, or in the process of changing jobs.
- The staff, inmates, and volunteers at Littlehey, and for those involved in the final stages of planning the new young offenders facility being added to the Littlehey site.
- Scott Watts, the new lead chaplain at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and for all involved in healthcare locally, especially at Buckden Surgery, the pharmacy, and healthcare professionals working in the community.
- All those who travel on the A1, especially in these months of icy and dangerous road conditions
We come together in church to worship God, to hear His word and to share the Good news of Jesus,
receiving forgiveness and renewal through His death and resurrection.
We are sent out from church to live as Christian disciples, showing love to others
and living out our faith in all we think, say and do.
