Aims of the Chaplaincy

  • To reflect on the commitment to fostering religion in the University Statutes
  • To help staff think through the relationship between life, faith and work
  • To provide pastoral support and listening in a non-threatening environment, especially to those who are not members of colleges

Activities

  • Participation in lecture and study programmes
  • Co-operation with other chaplains, including those of other faiths
  • Staff prayer groups, and a multi-faith centre at the West Cambridge site
  • Annual services - Carols, Cambridge Science Festival, Beginning of the Academic Year - and occasional services including memorial services
  • Visits to departments - by arrangement or for seminars, open days, etc.
  • Regular contact by mail with all department administrators, with posters of events
  • University-wide publicity working with the Press and Publications Department
