The purpose of this PCC committee is, in liaison with the parish staff, to keep under review all aspects of worship and education, and to make recommendations to the PCC. Membership of the committee includes one of the clergy, the head server, the Director of Music, a Reader, and a choir member.
During 2002-2003, we were involved in the reorganization of the prayer corner at the entrance toSt Andrew's Chapel; we embarked upon revision of the GSM website, which is now well underway, and suggested speakers for half-day seminars. We reviewed the books being sold at the bookstall and have drawn up a list to provide a much wider variety of Christian literature; some of these are now on order. We have introduced service booklets for Mattins and Evensong according to the Book of Common Prayer. This has obviated the need to buy more prayer books, although psalms have to be photocopied.
Members attended, and encouraged others to attend, workshops in Ely on healing ministry, a poetry day at Little Gidding, and a weekend retreat at St Francis House, Hemingford Grey. Groups led by members of the committee include the Healing Group and the Reading Group. For the latter group, we are discussing what book to study after Keith Ward's Christianity: a Short Introduction. Anglicanism: the Answer to Modernity, by Deans and Chaplains of Cambridge colleges and edited by Duncan Dormer, Jack McDonald and Jeremy Caddick, is a likely candidate.
