Treasures Old and New
A celebration of the Anglican tradition
The title is based on the 'master of a household who brings forth from his trasure what is new and what is old' (Matthew 15.52). It suggests the variety, vitality and depth of the Anglican tradition, which the series explores. It will help participants to understand more about what Anglicanism is, how we can draw from its resources, and how we can share in building its future. It will be informed and comprehensive, yet accessible to a wide audience.
The programme consists of several elements:
- Sunday sermons at Great St Mary's, at varying times of the day and with an opportunity to question the preacher afterwards
- Thursday evening forums at Michaelhouse, in an informal setting with refreshments served, and opportunity to engage in discussion and debate, with the main speaker and other guests. Each Thursday forum will be in the context of a different form of liturgy to give a sense of the variety of Anglican worship
- A major exhibition, entitled 'Anglicanism and the Christian Tradition', shown first in Rome and also in other centres in england and Europe. This will be on display in Great St Mary's throughout the celebration
