St Johns Choir

Music is an important part of worship at St Johns. St John’s has a traditional roabed SATB choir who lead the music at all the main services. This includes the 10am and 6:30pm Sunday services, as well as mid-week festivals (such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday), and weddings. The choir has a strong treble line made up of girls and boys aged 7-18 years, who follow the RSCM Voice for Life training scheme. Adults make up the remaining parts.

We sing a full choral evensong once a term to which we often invite guests. We also provide the entertainment at the annual shrove Tuesday party. Outside of St Johns, our choir takes a full part in music festivals held in Ely Cathedral and King's College Cambridge.

As noted above, the choir members follow training courses, for which they regularly win medals!

Christingle fun!!!

On occasions the choir holds an evensong to which they invite former members. This photograph contains 40 former members who travelled from various corners of the country.

Our choir always welcomes new members. The choir is unauditioned but members are required to attend weekly choir practice. If you, or your child is interested in joining the choir, please contact the parish office by telephone on 01223 241316.
