Scrapbook of people and events in St Johns

This is a slightly ideosyncratic collection of photographs of activities at St Johns (ideosynchratic in that the collection reflects what I have photographs of rather than any editorial procedure).

We hold a regular Toddler Service on Monday mornings in term time (10 am) for under-5s and their parents and carers. The Toddler service has a mix of singing, a Bible story, and simple prayers, followed by play.

Hunting for collection money in the Toddler Service. The Toddler Service joined with the Sunday School in supporting mission giving.

Play time after the Toddler Service. The church is a fantastic place to drive around when you are only 3 years old!

We sometimes run a special event for children and families on Good Friday. This photograph shows construction of the Easter garden.

We sometimes use the format of telling the Easter Story in various zones, with people in costume acting out scenes from the story.

Here some of the women who were at the cross on Good Friday tell of their experiences.

Zaccheus talks to the children from atop his tree about the time that Jesus called him by name.

One of Jesus's disciples tells a child about what it means to follow Jesus.

For Christmas and some family services the young people lead the music in a band featuring a wide range of musical instruments. Here some of the band members are dressed up because they are also taking part in the drama in the family service.

The band pose after another family service, in their favourite corner of the church.

It has been a tradition at St Johns for the Sunday School to put on a nativity play on the Christmas morning family service.

This photograph shows angels, shepherds and a king.

Mary, Joseph and some more shepherds.

Each year we take a group of young people to the "Rave in the Nave" at Ely Cathedral. This is one photograph of some of young people chilling out.

And here is the same group taken from further away. This cafe is in the Lady Chapel in the Cathedral.

At the Christmas fete.

Ditto!

Finally, no Christmas fete is complete without Father Christmas in his grotto with Snow White to help.
