Choir

Music is an important part of the worship at St John's. The church has a traditional robed SATB choir, which leads the music at all the main services. This includes the 10am and 6pm Sunday services, as well as mid-week festivals (such as Ash Wednesday, Ascension Day and Maundy Thursday), and weddings on request. The choir has a strong treble line made up of girls and boys aged 7–18 years who follow the RSCM Voice for Life training scheme. There are also adult sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.

We sing a full choral evensong once a term to which we invite guests. We also provide the entertainment at the annual Shrove Tuesday party. Outside of St John's, our choir takes a full part in music festivals held in Ely Cathedral and King's College Chapel.

The choir holds practices on Thursdays at the following times:

6.30–7.30 pm

Adults

We do not audition for membership, but members are required to attend weekly choir practice. If you, or your child, is interested in joining the choir, please contact the parish office by telephone on 01223 241316.
