INTRODUCTION

Greetings from the Rector
of St Mary the Virgin Parish Church, Gamlingay
- the Revd Steven Rothwell

Thank you for visiting the Church'sSteve and family page on the Gamlingay Village website. I have been rector here for one year and I have recently been reflecting on some of the things that have happened in that time. I have a vivid picture in my mind of hundreds of people crammed into the church on Christmas Eve for the Christingle service; of the flower displays focussing on hymns during our Flower Festival; and of the many couples and families who have gathered in the church for baptisms and weddings. There have been quieter and more reflective occasions too especially during Lent and Easter and in the season of Remembrance.

This seems to me how a church lives and breathes in a community: by offering itself as a place to welcome and respond to the many joys and sorrows of peoples' lives. It has been my privilege to officiate at baptisms, weddings and funerals, and to welcome visits from schoolchildren and to go out and meet people in their homes, on the street and in the local schools.

Please come and use the church building for your own private space, to offer your prayers and to join us in our worship.
