Risen, ascended Lord,
as we rejoice
at your triumph,
fill your Church
on earth
with power and
compassion,
that all who are
estranged by sin
may find
forgiveness and know your peace,
to the glory
of God the Father.
Amen

Sharing in God’
‘I have come that they shall have life’
On May 11th, Pentecost Sunday, the congregation in St
Peter’s will have the chance to think about the life that they want to offer to
others, both now and after the alterations are undertaken.
The children of T Club in Robert Arkenstall
school will be following a project called ‘Leaves of Life’ during the coming
weeks, culminating in the service on Trinity Sunday. During this time, I hope that others will
want to join in this project, which talks about the life that we want to offer
to others, both locally and nationally.
If any PCC members have got any of the mission-shaped books, please make sure you pass them on to someone else
soon.
Following
the Annual Parochial Church Meetings
Thank you to everyone who attended the annual
meetings, and especially to those who have offered to serve God through the
work of the Church on the PCC or as Churchwarden
In both churches, there are several vacancies on the
PCC. The PCC is the decision-making body
of the church, and helps to think about what happens to the building, in the
building and most importantly how we tell other people about God’s love. We will need to co-opt people to join the PCC
this year. Please think and pray about
whether you can offer some time to serve God in this way.
In Haddenham we were unable to appoint any
churchwardens. This is actually a
serious situation, as churchwardens have legal responsibilities and hold office
on behalf of the Bishop. Bill Murrells
will continue in post until July and we are very grateful to Bill for all that
he has done. We will hold another meeting of parishioners after church on Sunday
June 15th at 1115
Rowan Williams said once ‘God gives the church what
the church needs to be the church’
If God is calling you, please don’t ignore the call,
but help our churches to be the places of love, welcome and witness that God
wants them to be.
