The Choir has recently seen the addition of new members, welcoming Louise to the alto line, who has helped considerably strengthen this part and give overall balance to the ensemble and Sarah as our first girl chorister. Sarah is probably the first girl chorister for some twenty years at All Saints’; we hope there will soon be more and that a junior choir might be formed, which would be able to sing along with the senior choir and also provide a supply of new voices in due course. Autumn has seen special music at the harvest festival, when a joyful introit, The earth is the Lord’s was sung, and the patronal festival of All Saints, when we gave a spirited rendering of Pitoni’s Laudate Dominum (Psalm 150) in place of a said gradual psalm. We have also sung at a wedding, when again fees were donated to choir funds. Several members took part in the excellent Diocesan festival evensong at King’s College, Cambridge, in September. Rosemary’s special birthday party saw most of the choir present celebrating in the parish hall, and a very generous donation was received as a result of this for choir funds. We plan to spend the money on new carol books and building up a stock of other new music. At the moment, we are busy rehearsing for Advent and Christmas, especially the two Christmas carol services. We hope you will all come and enjoy the Christmas music with us.
