Where are we?
Tuesday 3 October 2006
The church is just off the main road running through Trumpington, on the edge of the countryside. From the main road, turn down Maris Lane (between the petrol station and the traffic lights to Great Shelford), then turn left at the T-junction a couple of hundred yards later. The church is 100 yards on your left, with limited parking beyond, on the left side of the road. There is a bike shed at the immediate left of the Vicarage driveway.
There’s a map here.
Parish boundaries
The parish church of St Mary and St Michael serves the ancient parish of Trumpington, which lies largely within the boundary of the city of Cambridge. The northern edge is now where Brooklands Avenue meets Trumpington Road. The southern limit is the city boundary with Great Shelford (on Shelford Road). Along Hauxton Road, the boundary with Hauxton parish is beyond the M11. The railway bridge on Long Road marks the eastern limit and the River Cam forms the western border.
There are currently around 2000 homes in the parish, and plans for new housing are being drawn up that will triple this number.
