Friends in Deed

Here for the people of Buckden

WHO ARE WE?
Friends In Deed is a group that has been set up by St Mary’s, the Parish Church of Buckden, to visit and help those in the village who are unwell, housebound, feeling lonely or new to the village, and anyone who would like to receive a visit from a member of the group just to listen and chat.

HOW DO YOU GET IN TOUCH?
If you would like a visit or know someone who would, then please phone Christine Lawrence, the co-ordinator of ‘Friends in Deed’, on 07810 006 598, and she will arrange for someone to come and see you. Your visitor will then contact you to arrange a convenient time.

IS THERE A CHARGE?
Only if you ask the visitor to use their car on your behalf.

WHAT CAN WE DO?
We can offer to call and have a chat and a cup of tea,or maybe offer some practical help. Often a friendly face makes all the difference. Our aim is not to solve problems but to offer support and encouragement through difficult times. Your visitor will respect your privacy and won’t reveal personal information. A single visit may be all that is required, but it is possible for regular visits to be arranged for as long as it is helpful.

PEACE OF MIND
All our visitors have been security checked and they will always have an identity card with them. Please make sure you ask to see it to avoid any misunderstanding.

We come together in church to worship God, to hear His word and to share the Good news of Jesus,
receiving forgiveness and renewal through His death and resurrection.

We are sent out from church to live as Christian disciples, showing love to others
and living out our faith in all we think, say and do.
